Lyrics
1. She stood and watched the sun go down
As it set upon the little town
I heard her sing this song so sweet
Won't we dance forever now, forever now
My love has gone away from me
I know not what he's gone away to seek
But I know that he is true to me
We will dance forever now, forever now
Chorus 1
We will dance and we'll sing this pleasant night
We will dance and we'll sing till the stars shine bright
We will dance and we'll sing till the morning light
Won't you dance with me forever now
2. My love he is a noble knight
He is strong and brave in every fight
But with me he's like a gentle breeze
We will dance forever now, forever now
We met in the meadow green
As I picked the flowers that were seen
And he told me that pleasant day
That we'd dance forever now, forever now
Chorus 1
3. My love rides on a stallion black
He rides with speed he must come back
Oh where has he gone this day
Will we dance forever now, forever now?
Oh how I miss my knight so dear
As I gaze into the river clear
Will he ever come back to this town?
Will we dance forever now, forever now?
Chorus 2
Will we dance and sing this pleasant night
Will we dance and sing till the stars shine bright
Will we dance and sing till the morning light
Will you dance with me forever now
4. As I listened to her song so sweet
I heard a sound like horses' feet
Could it be that knight that she did miss
Will they dance forever now, forever now
As I watched this horse come into sight
And beside that horse a noble knight
And he kisses his singing girl so dear
They will dance forever now, forever now
Chorus 1
Inspiration came from being sad about the many folk songs that ended in sadness, so I wrote one that ended cheerfully. The tune came first and I found myself singing a chorus so I wrote the rest of the words to go with it.
